Before Facial Procedures

Begin Today

  • Discontinue Aspirin or any drug containing aspirin, including arthritis, pain, or anti- inflammatory medications for two (2) weeks before surgery. These drugs may cause increased bruising and bleeding at the time of surgery due to the effect on clotting. Use Tylenol instead.
  • Eat a balanced diet and do not attempt to lose weight for the two (2) weeks prior to surgery. Proper nutrition is important for healing. Taking multivitamins daily will also promote your general health.
  • There is absolutely No Smoking for three (3) weeks prior to your surgery and three (3) weeks following surgery. If you have any questions, please ask Dr. Lee.
  • Fill your prescriptions prior to surgery, and bring them with you the day of surgery.
  • Notify Dr. Lee if a cold or infection develops in the weeks prior to surgery.
  • For all patients undergoing a facelift or brow lift procedure, hair cannot be tinted or colored three (3) weeks after surgery. Therefore, you may want to have this done several days before surgery if necessary.
  • For all patients undergoing an Endoscopic Brow Lift, Chin Implant or Cheek Implants, begin rinsing with prescription mouth rinse two (2) days prior to surgery, rinse the morning of surgery and continue four (4) days following surgery.

The Day before Surgery

  • No food or liquids after midnight the evening before your surgery.
  • Wash thoroughly with Hibiclens anti-bacterial wash.

The morning of surgery

  • You may brush your teeth and rinse with prescription mouth rinse if recommended.
  • Wash your, face, neck and behind the ears with Hibiclens anti-bacterial wash for two (2) days prior to surgery and the morning of surgery. Hibiclens wash can be found at most local pharmacies. Reduction of skin bacteria will decrease the risk of infections. Please do not wear moisturizers, creams, lotions, makeup, hair gel,etc.
  • Wear comfortable, loose fitting clothes. No blue jeans. Nothing that goes over your head. Remove all jewelry, hairpins, contact lenses, belly button rings, etc. Please leave all jewelry at home.
  • Remember to take any necessary medications with a small sip of water. (If Valium prescribed by Dr.Lee please take as directed.
