Dr. Leonardo Rios Andersen attended the University of Puerto Rico, where he graduated magna cum laude with his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree in 2000. He went on to complete a four-year residency in oral and maxillofacial surgery at the University of Puerto Rico, where he received advanced training in dental implants, wisdom teeth removal, bone grafting, corrective jaw surgery, and pathology. Upon completion of his residency in 2004, Dr. Rios-Andersen earned his post-doctoral degree in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
Following his residency, Dr. Rios Andersen served as an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon in the United States Air Force from 2004 to 2011. During his military career, he was appointed Chief of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at both Misawa Air Base in Japan and Elmendorf Air Force Base in Alaska. In these roles, he provided surgical care to thousands of service members and their families, trained dental and medical officers, and contributed to readiness programs. His service was recognized with multiple awards, including Pacific Air Forces Outstanding Dental Officer of the Year.
Dr. Rios Andersen is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and maintains his certification through continuing education each year.
